Skulls & Bones: El Inglés Goes Missing
By Jay Malinowski
Three Stars
In this first novella from Bedouin Soundclash singer Jay Malinowski, a weathered box gives up a collection of letters between an old sea dog and the granddaughter he left behind in Cape Bretton. Smudged with photos and drawings, they detail a violent, and rather confusing, Maritime family history. An included song, “Skulls & Bones”, suggests at deeper mystery will follow.

Delsin Rowe has the ability to become smoke. This should make him superhuman, but because he uses it like a gun for some fairly standard shoot-outs, he’s just another ordinary game character. Compared to the beautiful city of Seattle you get to explore, the engaging characters that appear much later, and some neat activities involving Banksy-inspired street art, the super powers you unlock end up being the least-interesting part of the game. You end up playing, not for what’s happening now, but for what you hope might happen next.
