Dear Luke, We Need To Talk, Darth

Four Stars

This collection of humorous memos, letters, and text messages imagine the off-screen interactions of our favourite movie characters, where the shark from Jaws keeps a therapy diary and the Walking Dead zombies commiserate together online. Clever logos and fonts complete the inventive gags for Don Draper’s self-reflecting cocktail recipes and an exasperated court-ordered letter from Dora the Explorer’s Mom.

Elijah Wood, Jack Black, and Wil Wheaton star in this eccentric and witty adventure game from Tim Schafer (Grim Fandango) who offers two otherworldly, teenage predicaments. Shay is trapped aboard an overprotective space nursery while Vella is to be sacrificed to a monster. Both must recruit the unhelpful characters around them to aid in their escape. Beautiful, hand-painted visuals mix with the offbeat challenges of barfing trees, ice cream avalanches, and bird-brained cultists for a uniquely entertaining journey. Being just Act One, the only downside is the cliffhanger ending.
