Metro Reviews: Jules Verne, Sharknado, Under Armour Women

Here’s my Metro News reviews for the week of Aug. 4th

80 Days
By Jules Verne & inkle Studios
iPad/iPhone
Four Stars

By mapping the pages of Jules Verne’s classic novel to an interactive globe you get to choose where valet Passepartout and his master travel, how they spend their money, and what strange encounters they have. It’s a different book with every read and the globe-travelling bet is yours to win or lose. It’s a fun, clever combination of game and novel.

Blood Bowl
PC/Xbox 360/iPad/Android
Rated: Teen 13+
3 Stars

Imagine football players on a chess board and you get the idea. This is a slow, thoughtful strategy game where silly-voiced orcs deliver consequences that are more comical than macho. Over-the-top announcers and “Bloodweiser Babes” create a fun environment, but as a faithful simulation of the popular board game it’s thick with rules and dice rolls for every action. It’s impressive the way tablet users can play against PC users online and the campaigns offer a deep system to build and improve your own team. It’s complex, but nerdy fun.
