Metro Reviews: Trigger Warning, Dying Light, Sons of Anarchy

Here’s my Metro News reviews for the week of Feb. 2nd.

Trigger Warning
By Neil Gaiman
Kindle/iBooks/Kobo
Five Stars

Trigger Warning is an internet term used to identify web links that may lead to unsettling content and indeed this collection of strange and intriguing poems, adventures, and remembrances all unfold with nightmarish costs. Even when David Bowie, Sherlock Holmes, and Dr. Who make appearances, dark surprises await. I can only warn you that it’s terribly, delightfully good fun.

Dying Light
PS4/Xbox One/PC
Rating: Mature 17+
Three Stars

Zombies are poor climbers and so unlikely to follow if you parkour over fences, buildings, and rooftops. In Dying Light the only alternative is to crudely bludgeon them with pipes, which is very tiresome, so evasion is key, especially when night falls and the super undead come out to hunt. Sadly, these night sequences are short and every upgrade moves you more towards close combat instead of better cat-and-mouse scenarios with the undead. There’s still fun zombie surprises and chases, but the premise does fall short of its initial promise.
