Stanford neuroscientist and algorithm engineer Rachel Kalmer who works for wearable tech company Misfit as their data scientist. At this year’s CES the company turned heads with a new Swarovski partnership for the Shine, a life-tracking, solar-powered crystal that can be worn as a smartwatch or as a pendant.

Danielle George, Professor of Engineering and Manchester University who this year had the honor of hosting the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, an annual tradition of public demonstrations for kids and adults that goes back 189 years to Michael Faraday himself. This year’s theme was technology and she performed three days of amazing displays on hacking, electric communication, and robotics while pregnant.
