Here’s my Metro News reviews for the week of June 30th
Rogues
By George R. R. Martin & Gardner Dozois
Kindle/iBooks/Kobo
Five Stars
The savagery the Game of Thrones series is known for can be traced back to one man, prince Daemon Targaryen, whose tale is included here amongst a collection of short stories about rogues edited by George R. R. Martin. All the stories are deliciously fun, but it’s the inventive scoundrels of Neil Gaiman and Connie Willis who steal the show.

4 Stars
A somber, but beautiful World War story about the ingenuity and friendship of reluctant soldiers trying to endure the grim realities around them, this puzzle adventure finds its charm in an eager service dog companion and the way soldiers of different nationalities must work together. Archival letters and photos, used as collectibles, document the Great War’s human cost, a reminder that no one wins this kind of conflict. From rhythm-based tasks for medics to harrowing car chases, this is an ever-inventive adventure with expressive, comic book visuals and poignant music.
