Here’s my Metro News reviews for the week of Oct. 27th
Gone Girl
By Gillian Flynn
Kindle/iBooks/Kobo
Four Stars
This dark tale of intricate planning, told far too quickly as a movie, uses husband and wife eBook diaries to mastefully account for a disturbing disappearance through entirely different perspectives following different timelines. It’s a crime puzzle of a thousand well thought-out pieces and unforeseen revelations that, once assembled, form a massive jaw-dropping tapestry of mob mentalities and painful, human manipulation.

It’s slime time with this Ghostbusters pinball machine loaded with movie music and effects. There’s eight flippers to trigger multi-ball, cross the streams, and hopefully defeat the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
Sunset Overdrive
Xbox One
Rated: Mature 17+
4 Stars
When a new fizzy drink triggers a zombie-mutant apocalypse, your ability to skateboard grind power lines and punk-parkour street obstacles prove valuable to an ingenious group of misfits. While most games reward you with fanfare, Sunset Overdrive uses a boundless creativity, dropping crazy gags and hilarious characters across a sprawling city of fun tasks and customizations. Vinyl record-shooting rifles, acidic lawn sprinklers, and explosive teddy bear launchers are among the gimmicks that prove what’s crazy can also be smart, that what seems overwhelming will keep you coming back for more.
